Dear SWCRS friends:

SWCRS is seeking to replace Dr. Jan Jaynes Quesada, who has served in the capacity of Executive Secretary since the summer of 2018. We want to thank Jan for the remarkable ways she has directed our organization and successfully navigated it through some very difficult moments, especially COVID and changes in the SBL regional support.

At the moment, finding Jan’s replacement is urgent and a necessity for SWCRS, the strongest regional body dedicated to the study of religion in its context. Without an Executive Secretary to coordinate the annual meeting and oversee the governing Board and its representative bodies, SWCRS would not be able to continue its collaborative and creative work. The 2024 meeting will mark SWCRS’s 50th year, and we would very much like to celebrate that milestone.

The SWCRS Board anticipates changes that will greatly assist a new Executive Secretary, including remuneration as well as a new title (Executive Director). We are open to junior as well as senior scholars, independent as well as permanent faculty members, and retirees. Our hope is to find someone dedicated to the region and who recognizes its significance. If you are interested, then please contact me as soon as possible: Darren_Middleton@Baylor.edu

Respectfully Submitted,

Darren J. N. Middleton, SWCRS President (2022-2023)
